Tailwheel Endorsement

We offer tailwheel training leading to the endorsement necessary to act as pilot in command of a tailwheel airplane. The training includes (but is not limited to) a thorough discussion of the physics of a conventional landing gear, 3-point and wheel landings on paved and grass surfaces, cross-wind landings, and is preceded by proper airmanship development in make and model, especially in the high angle-of-attack and sideslip regime.

Depending on your location, we will likely conduct this course in an American Champion Citabria or Decathlon, at an airport with a long runway allowing for efficient training. The typical completion time for our tailwheel transition course for good pilots is approximately 5-6 hours; however, some individuals may need more. No written or practical test necessary.
