Modern Flight Control Systems
This is the parent page for all flight test engineering articles on modern flight control systems (MFCS) on the Academic Flight website. These articles generally discuss how to control a physical system (aircraft) automatically and involve control theory in some form. They also deal with associated aspects, such as sensor data processing, localization, and autonomy (autonomous flight).
Flight test engineering articles on aircraft flying qualities and on aircraft performance can be found in separate sections. Please note that the aircraft flying qualities articles contain prerequisites for the modern flight control systems articles regarding the characterization and inherent behavior of the physical system to be controlled by the MFCS, such as a discussion of linear systems and motion analysis.
