Multi Engine Time Building

How To Get Twin Engine Time

Definition of Multi Engine Time Building

Multi engine time building is the act of accumulating multi engine flight time in a multi engine airplane. This multi engine flight time is then used to satisfy aeronautical experience requirements for a pilot certificate or rating, or for a professional pilot job. You will also need 15 hours of multi engine PIC time to get your MEI.

How To Get Twin Engine Time?

Our Multi Engine Time Building Program in Indiana offers cheap twin time in a well maintained multi engine airplane for an affordable price. The program can be entered either directly if you already have a multi engine rating or after having gone through our accelerated multi engine training.

For the purpose of multi engine time building, we can provide access to a Piper PA-34-200 Seneca for $320/hour. (Regular price for the airplane without the multi engine time building discount would be $350/hour.) We believe it is some of the best multi engine time building Indiana has to offer.

That is less than the rental price of one of the ubiquitous Cessna 172 Skyhawks at a regular flight school.

We will be happy to assist you in pairing you up with a potential multi engine time building partner to the best of our abilities. But we cannot make any guarantees that a second person will be available at any particular time. You can travel the whole United States during this flight time building program Arizona being among the many possible destinations. Multi Engine Time Building Requirements

Multi engine time building requirements can refer to two things: the prerequisite for you to start building multi engine time and the amount of multi engine time you need to build. The initial multi engine time building requirements are that you have a multi engine rating on your pilot certificate. If you do not have a multi engine rating yet, you need to get multi engine training first, before you can act as pilot in command of a multi engine airplane. One option to do this is to get a fast track multi engine rating through our accelerated multi engine training course.

How much multi engine time you need to build depends on what professional pilot job you are seeking. For an airline transport pilot certificate (ATP) you need to have 50 hours of multi engine flight time (see 14 CFR 61.159(a)(3)). These 50 hours do not need to be pilot in command (PIC). If you are aspiring to become a multi engine instructor (MEI), you need only 15 hours of multi engine flight time, but these have to be PIC, i.e. you must have acquired them after obtaining your initial multi engine rating.

This Indiana multi engine time building uses a twin engine piston aircraft. Some employers value or require you to have jet time. If you want to get your multi engine flight time in a jet, we recommend you look into jet time building programs. These will, however, likely be more expensive, so this will probably have happen through multi engine time building jobs.

Flight Time Building with the Redbird MCX AATD

In addition to your multi engine time building in the Piper Seneca, you can have the additional opportunity to build time in a Redbird MCX AATD. Up to 25 hours in this advanced aviation training device can be counted towards the 1500 hours needed for the ATP certificate (however, these do not count towards the 50 hours of multi engine flight time needed). Furthermore, up to 50 hours of Redbird MCX AATD time can be counted towards the 250 hours required for the commercial pilot certificate.

While this is AATD time and not flight time, it can still be viewed as a form of flight time building, because it will reduce the total amount of flight time you will need to achieve your desired pilot certificate or rating.

What Is The Cheapest Flight Time Building Program?

If multi engine time building is too expensive for you, would you care to try out our zero engine time building program?

Gliders offer a fantastic alternative path to flight time building. If time building at a low cost is more important to you than that it is in a multi engine airplane, building flight time in a glider can be very rewarding. Through a glider club, you only need to pay for the aero tow, and can stay up afterwards for free for many hours, given suitable meteorological conditions. This is the cheapest flight time building program imaginable.

In the image above is a glider from the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) in original livery from its former service at the USAF Academy. The Civil Air Patrol is another way to build flight time for free, though flight time building in Indiana (or elsewhere) should not be your reason to join CAP, but rather dedication and service.
