Books

A small selection of books on aerospace engineering, including aerodynamics, flight dynamics, the history of aerospace engineering, etc. We do not provide direct links to any online store, in order not to promote a particular seller, but these books are readily available for purchase (some as ebooks).

It would be a copyright violation to post links here directly, but with some searching on the internet, you may also be able to find downloadable PDFs or JPEGs of some of these works online. If you are looking for downloadable literature to read, we also recommend the lecture notes further below on this page, most of which are freely available from university faculty members’ websites.

  • John D. Anderson, Jr., “Fundamentals of Aerodynamics”, 5th Edition, McGraw Hill, New York 2011. [ISBN 978-0-07-339810-5]
  • Robert F. Stengel, “Flight Dynamics,” Princeton University Press, 2004. (Lecture slides on the author’s website.)
  • Malcolm J. Abzug and E. Eugene Larrabee: “Airplane Stability and Control – A History of the Technologies That Made Aviation Possible”, 2nd Edition, Cambridge University Press, New York 2002.
  • A. W. Babister: “Aircraft Stability and Control”, Pergamon Press, Oxford 1961.

Lecture Notes
